“The streets named after the Hasmoneans and their period are concentrated near the Yarkon River. Among them is also a street named after Miriam the Hasmonean, who was the wife of King Herod and the mother of two of his sons; however, Herod himself has no street, and this is because this king, a descendant of Edomites, was one of the cruelest kings the Jewish people have known. Herod was indeed one of the greatest builders in the Land of Israel, founding cities, expanding the Temple, and building fortresses, but more than that, he is remembered as a murderer of many, including those close to him, including his wife Miriam and several of his sons.”
