The Council of the Four Lands, or Vaad Arba Aratzot, was the central governing body of Polish Jewry from the 16th to the 18th centuries. It was responsible for overseeing the religious, social, and economic affairs of the Jewish community in Poland and Lithuania.
The Council was composed of representatives from the four major provinces of Poland: Great Poland, Little Poland, Ruthenia, and Volhynia. It met annually to discuss and vote on matters of importance to the Jewish community.

The Council of the Four Lands was a powerful institution that played a significant role in the development of Polish Jewry. It helped to preserve Jewish identity and culture in Poland, and it provided a framework for Jewish self-government. The Council was dissolved in 1764 by the Polish government.
