Yehuda Leib Zirelson, Rabbi (1941-1859)
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Zirelson was the Chief Rabbi of Bessarabia and a member of the Romanian Parliament. He was a supporter of Zionism in his early years, but later became critical of it. He was one of the founders of the Agudat Yisrael movement. He helped Jewish refugees during World War I and fought for the rights of Romanian Jews.
