“One of the streets named after events that led to the establishment of the state of Israel. There, in the capital of Finland, which was founded in the middle of the 16th century and is located in the south of the country, the Zionist Congress was held in 1906 (following the Uganda Crisis) under the leadership of Idelsohn, Greenberg, and Jabotinsky. The congress adopted the “Helsinki Plan” or “Helsingfors Plan” (as the city was known at the time under Russian rule), which determined that Israel is a decisive factor in the movement for the revival of the Jewish people. The plan also called for increased settlement in Israel at the expense of the diplomatic effort, and for the protection of the rights of Jews everywhere in the world.”
